Problems remain unaddressed in Congress | Senior Minister likely to join PDP | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 9: Congress, which has suffered humiliating defeat in the Parliamentary elections, is in a serious soup in the State. Even Cabinet Ministers of the Congress are likely to jump to PDP, which is riding on the wave of ascendency. According to sources, a senior Cabinet Minister of the party, who is quite vocal, articulate and known for his 'clean image' is in talks with the PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Sources, said he could join any moment. "The said Cabinet Minister was once the prodigy of the Ghulam Nabi Azad and was close to him. But sensing more defeats in the coming elections and having strong reservations with the NC, he has open channels of communications with the Mufti Sayeed and could join any time," said the senior leader. The Minister is likely to communicate it to the party high command and decision could be made public quite soon. Sources said once the decision would be made public, it could be serious trouble for the party. There is possibility of some more senior leaders switching sides. "The party high command must share the blame if this is going to happen. It didn't listen to us but was all the time appeasing and closing in to the Omar Abdullah. The defeat in the State was because of it and it's going to happen more in the future also," said the senior Minister The PDP is already catching up the political fancy of many people. It has already got many fresh new faces especially in the Jammu region and would be trying it in the Ladakh region also. The party wants to have some seats from the Jammu and Ladakh region though it's quite upbeat and confidant about itself in the Kashmir, because it doesn't want to be seen as a just one region party as it will not give it a representative character which it is looking for so seriously as it see itself coming close to the power once again but this time on its own terms. |
