Kishtwar administration withdraws permission to proposed army recruitment rally | Govt says no to army recruitment drive in Kishtwar | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Kishtwar August 9: Much to the disappointment of unemployed youth of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban Districts of Jammu Province of Jammu and Kashmir, the District administration Kishtwar citing security reasons withdrew the permission for holding of army recruitment schedule to be held at Chowghan ground from 20th of August 2014 for over 300 vacant posts of various categories. As per the details available with "Early Times", District administration vide letter No. 922-29/DM/K order withdrawal of permission granted to Army's 9 sector HQ Kishtwar vide 893-900/DM/K dated 2-08-2014. "In view of security constants and pre-occupation in law and order enforcement machinery in the District in view of ongoing Machail Yatra, the arrangements orders and permission granted regarding the subject (Recruitment Rally in Chowghan ground Kishtwar w-e-f 20-08-2014 to 25-08-2014) vide this office communication No. 893-900/DM/K dated 2-08-2014, are hereby kept withheld and withdrawn. " Read the order passed by the District Magistrate Kishtwar. While talking to "Early Times" a senior army officer on the condition of the anonymity termed the decision of withdrawal of permission by the District administration Kishtwar for holding recruitment rally as unfortunate and added that Kishtwar was selected for this type of recruitment for the first time in last 15 years. He said that Machail Yatra will left the Kishtwar town a day before the commencement of recruitment rally and further said that army has its own set of security arrangements with minimum role of local police. He said that in case the rally will held as per the schedule, 300 to 400 unemployed youths will get job opportunity in army. He said that District administration and Kishtwar police after withdrawing the permission approach the army for rescheduling of the rally for September/October; which according to senior army official is not possible as the army schedule for the current has already been finalized. He said that postponement of rally for two or three days is possible and not for month or two. He said that matter has been taken up with senior army officials who are in touch with top level government official before announcing cancellation of the recruitment rally. Army in Kishtwar hope that the matter will be resolved amicably and said that army's initiative is to provide jobs to local unemployed youths, added that the ball is now in the court of local administration to take final call with regard to granting permission for schedule army recruitment rally. |
