School Teachers worst sufferers of coalition rule
8/10/2014 12:55:36 AM

Shakeel A Khan

SRINAGAR, Aug 9: The claims of the people in the corridors of power that it has rendered the services to the satisfaction of the commoners is a blatant lie as during the last five years or so, the rich has become richer and the poor have been buried alive.
The poor policies of the coalition government over the years have affected the cross section of the people and the private school teacher is on top of the list of the sufferers despite the fact that the efforts of the private teacher has helped to a great extent as for as the literacy of the state is concerned.
The private school teacher isn't living the honorable life because he has been let down by the government. The private school teacher is made to work for hours together but his income is so discouraging that he feels shy to be called as the teacher. "The government has forgotten us altogether and has no consideration for our plight. We are the slaves of the modern age and there seems to be no respite for us as we have been overlooked time and again.
Despite our hard work, we are looked upon as the people of the lowest ranks," said Bilal Ahmad, a private school teacher from the district Budgam.
Going by the performances, private schools always outshine the government schools, not only in terms of the pass percentage but also in terms of the positions secured by the private school candidates. But this message hardly reaches to the deaf ears of the government.
"Our school got so many distinctions and the pass percentage was almost hundred percent. This is because of the fact that the teachers
of our school worked hard for the whole year but against a very meager salary. On the other hand a government school in our neighborhood
produced a dismal performance where many candidates failed though the government pays them with a handsome salary," said Shabir Ahmad, a private school teacher from Shalteng.
Many private school teachers who were talked to by the Early Times were of the opinion that it is not the unconcerned government only but also the cruel management which make the private teachers to work doubly hard but when they want the hike in their salary, they are told to look for the job somewhere else which depicts their highhandedness.
"As for as the private school is concerned, it is all about the
strictness for the teacher. There is no compromise on the rules as set by the management of the school. But the salary of a teacher isn't respectable as these schools aren't accountable before the government and on account of this the private school teacher is subjected to the exploitation," said Mohammad Akram from Srinagar, while talking to Early Times.
