City hit by water crisis, Chief Engineer’s apathy Walks out of press conference to respond to phone call | | | Insensitivity of the administration towards most pressing problems of the people was at display today when Chief Engineer PHE today walked out in the middle of a press conference to answer a phone call. For four days now, people of Jammu are facing pressing paucity of drinking water following stir of the PHE daily wagers in favour of their demands. Chief Engineer had invited media for a press conference to explain the official position after talks between the government and the striking employees failed the previous day, but in the middle of the press conference, the Chief Engineer left to respond to a call on his cellphone, totally oblivious of the gravity of the situation being faced by the people of the city and disregarding the media. Chief Engineer's conduct is a classic example of indifferent attitude of the bureaucrats and the technocrats of the state towards the problems of the masses. "Beyond Chief Minister's empty recurring over responsive governance, such acts are reflection of apathetic attitude of the public servants towards the public" said a senior media person present in the press conference. |
