Two ARTOs against one sanctioned post | 'Not here to entertain ET's queries': RTO Kathua | | GS Asgotra JAMMU, Sept 3: While several departments of the state government are confronting serious paucity of manpower, two Assistant Regional Transport Officers (ARTO) are working against single sanctioned post in Kathua adding to the chaos and commotion in the department. Sources informed Early Times that despite, one sanctioned post of ARTO in Motor Vehicle Department of Kathua, two officers have been posted in a bid to adjust a blue eyed. "There was already an ARTO posted here, but six months back another ARTO joined RTO office Kathua", sources said, adding that responsibilities of second ARTO have not been notified so far. Source alleged that the higher authorities and RTO Kathua were hand in glove, to adjust Mamta Rajput as ARTO in the department in violation of norms. "The additional ARTO comes to the office occasionally and has no work assigned to her," they added. The RTO office Kathua has meanwhile been fraught with serious allegations of corruption and misappropriation. "The unholy nexus between agents and some employees of the department is prospering to the dismay of the people", he added. He said that even protesting against the malpractice the locals have already held a number of demonstrations against the MV department. "Locals of Kathua had staged protest demonstration against the department because because of blatant demands of bribe for getting driving license, vehicle permit etc", said an employee, seeking not to be named. When contacted Regional Transport Officer, Ajay Sharma said that he would not entertain any Correspondent from Early Times. |
