Cong anxiously waiting for BJP to announce tickets to launch counter attack | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 3; Facing one after another onslaught of the "over-confident" BJP, the Congress leadership is looking for an appropriate time to hit back the Saffron Brigade. Congress leadership is likely to start counter offense only after BJP announced its candidates. It is learning that Congress high command has suggested state unit of the party to focus on those BJP who are claimants of the mandates but would be denied the same. Credible sources in the Congress said that party leaders who met central leaders at New Delhi sought suggestions from the high command to stop "migration" of party leaders into BJP. It is learnt that high command has asked local leadership to wait for the BJP to announce its candidates a number of BJP leaders would start deserting the party. High command, it is learnt, has asked local unit to remain in touch with most of the BJP MLAs so that in case they would be denied mandates party would utilize their services. After reports published in some sections of the media that BJP is going to field fresh faces in the Assembly elections, Congress leaders have opened channel of communications with most of the BJP MLAs. Credible sources in the Congress said that some BJP MLAs, who are not sure of getting mandates, have sought support from Congress leadership in the coming Assembly elections. It is all due to directions from the high command that Congress leaders have also established contact with some other prominent leaders who are staking claims on mandates. Services of these leaders would be properly utilized if they will not get party mandates. |
