Jammu, Jan 17: Guru Nanak Nagar Club and M.B.S Hockey Club Simbal camp today reached the finals of ongoing Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sub Junior Hockey tournament organized by Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation at K.K. Hakku Stadium Jammu under the aegis of Hockey J&K.
Gurcharan Singh, District sports Officer (rtd) was the guest of honour. After getting introduced to the playing teams, S. Singh said that the rejuvenation of hockey in J&K is only possible by organizing Sub Junior hockey tournaments like this one. He further added that Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh foundation may be granted special grant by government for organizing this tournament at big scale for U-16 players.
In the first semifinal match played today, Guru Nanak Nagar Club beat Sittu Club Simbal Camp by 6-5 via tie breakers. In the stipulated time match ended in a 1-1-draw. Both the teams showed attacking hockey. Guru Nanak Nagar Club scored 1st goal in the 26th minute by Vishal Kumar. Tanvir singh scored equalizer in the 40th minute for Sittu Club. In the tie breaker Vishal, Ramandeep, Vikram, Tushar and Simranpal converted their strokes into goal. Whereas Robin Singh, Jaspreet, Ramandeep, Manmeet, scored goals for Sittu Club.
In the 2nd second match M.B.S. Simble camp defeated Ajit Hockey Club Gole Gujral by a margin of 3-0. Gagndeep Singh scored 1st goal in 21st minute , 2nd goal by S Harvinderpal Singh in 45th minute via penalty corner, 3rd goal was scored by S. Ramandeep Singh in 50th minute for M.B.S. Hockey club.
Others present on the occasion included Ranbir Singh, Vice President Hockey, Romal Singh General secretary Hockey J&K, S. Manjit Singh Resident secretary Hockey J&K, S Avtar Singh, J&K,Rajinder Singh, Bal Krishan, Tejinder Singh,Tirlok Singh, Davinder Bakshi and other sports lovers.
The matches were officiated by Jagjit Singh, Dalbir Mehta, Joginder Singh, S. Charanjit Singh, S. Jaspreet Singh, Ravinder Singh, Karanjit Singh and G.S. Bakshi as tournament director.
Final of the tournament will be played between M.B.S. Hockey Club Simbal camp and Guru Nanak Nagar Club at 2 .00 PM on 19th January 2015. The Chief Guest for prize distribution function will Dr. Ab. Kabir Dar Director General Indian Systems of Medicine J&K State and Mission Director AYUSH Mission Govt. of India . |
