Settlement of WPRs cannot change demography of JK: Ashok Koul | Time has come to unite over margining of POK with India | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Early Times Report Kishtwar, Jan 17: Bhartiya Janta Party General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul today said that settlement of West Pakistan and POK refugees will not make any impact on demography of the Jammu and Kashmir state as was claimed by the separatist and independent MLA Engineer Rashid. He said time had come for people hailing from all walks of life in Jammu and Kashmir to get united to take concrete steps with regard to merging of POK with union of India. While talking to Early Times" on the side lines of party membership drive at Kishtwar, Koul said that to coin the term of "Mehman (Guest)" for the refugees settled in Jammu and Kashmir is wrong, "People living at a particular place since last over 60 years cannot be treated as guests," he said. "Even a women after getting married gets rights over her property after 10-20 years. These people are living in the state since last 60 years and deserve the right of settlement," he said. He said that time has come to come up with a clean mindset while dealing these type of issues. He said that as per the head of these refugees Labha Ram Gandhi, the strength of these refugees living in the state is only 60000 and the number cannot make any impact on state demography. In a question regarding demand of independent MLA Engineer Rashid to allow return of 5 lakh Kashmiri refugees shifted to Pakistan and POK after 1947, Ashok Koul said that BJP has no objection on return of these refugees. He added that the POK and the people living in POK are Indian citizens as per the constitution of India as well as the resolution passed by the parliament. "BJP has nothing to do with return of Kashmiri refugees--- BJP has no objection in it and it will not make impact on BJP--- the issue is let them first to merge POK with India--- let them (referring to Separatist & others) show the courage to raise their voice for merging of POK with India--- what is the fun to keep POK isolated," said Ashok Koul. He said that POK is the part of India and people of Jammu and Kashmir along with us must raise the voice jointly so that we get back POK. He said that BJP from the beginning is committed to get back part of Kashmir presently under occupation of Pakistan. Koul said it was not the issue of allowing the refugees migrated to POK to come back, added that it is the issue of getting the land back first and only after that the refugees presently living in our part of Jammu and Kashmir will go back to places like Mirpur and Kotli where they owned property. "Once we get back POK-the issue of refugees of both sides of Jammu and Kashmir will settle--- all will be free--- the refugees presently settled in Pakistan can easily come back and stake the claim against their property and at the same time, the refugees settled in our part of Jammu and Kashmir will go back to their places," he said. Reacting to a question on delay in government formation Ashok while playing safe said that the doors of party were open for all. "Whosoever wants to join the hands with BJP over the issue of sovereignty, development and regional imbalance is welcome to join hands with the BJP,' he said. He said that the main agenda of the BJP is the development of Jammu and Kashmir. "The government could be formed in a way that it could fulfill the aspirations of all the three regions of the state. He said that the main agenda which is being followed throughout the country is the agenda of development, added that time has come to set aside small and treachery issues while moving forward towards government formation," he said. He said that regional imbalance also means lack of development in Uri, Gurez, Karnah and other areas of Kashmir and said that the roads leading to Gurez faces blockade even today as and when the area witnessed moderate snowfall. He said that the main focus should be on development, added that any party who will talk about development, BJP is willing to form the government with such party. |
