District Police Udhampur organizes Volleyball tournament | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 17: District Police Udhampur organized a Volleyball tournament under Civic Action Programme for the year 2014-15 in collaboration with District Youth Services and Sports Office at Mini Stadium Udhampur today. Around 8 teams of different Youth Clubs of District Udhampur participated in the tournament. The said tournament concluded today at Mini Stadium Udhampur and Garib Dass-IPS, Dy. Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range was the chief guest. Besides Mohd. Suleman Choudhary SSP Udhampur, Khalil Ahmed Poswal-KPS, Addl. SP Udhampur, Gourav Mahajan-KPS Dy. SP Hqrs Udhampur, Mahesh Sharma SHO P/S Udhampur, veteran players, prominent citizens which include Ramanand Baria, Sham Kalsotrta, Subash Gupta and sports lovers were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Dy. Inspector General of police complimented the organizers for the successful conduct of the tournament. He said that holding of this tournament was a step forward to encourage the sports culture for healthy society and to bridge the gap between Police and public. He said that the sports activities of JKP have helped the youth to channelize their energy in a positive way towards the overall development of youth and their positive contribution towards the society In his address Sr. Superintendent of Police Udhampur said that 8 outstanding teams of the District participated in the tournament and exhibited their sports talent with a sense of great commitment to sportsmanship. He said that more efforts would be put in place to organize such tournaments on a broader canvas with the participation of best volley ball teams from outside the state too. He hoped that tournament would go a long way in attracting the youth towards games and also prove a step forward to strengthen the police- public relation in a big way. Taking lead of two sets, the volley ball team of City Volley Ball Club defeated Housing Colony Volley Ball Club by 25-21 and 25-22 in the final match of this Tournament at Mini Stadium, Udhampur. Latter on SSP Udhampur along with other dignitaries distributed cash prizes and trophies amounting to Rs. 8000/- Rs 4000/- to 1st , 2nd winning teams of the tournament respectively. |
