ReTs awaiting regularization since six months | Files gathering dust at DSE | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan, 17: The regularization files of the Rehbar-e- Taleem (ReT) teachers since past six months are gathering dust with the school education authorities for the past six months. Sources within the department said that the files of these poor teachers are being kept pending deliberately until the offerings are paid much to contend the officials. The Director School Education is reportedly playing a privy role in keeping the cases of such teachers in limbo. Sources informed Early Times that Director was staying in Jammu to bite the chilling cold of valley and later left for Bangladesh, giving no other official in his directorate an authority to listen to peoples' woes. The ReT teachers who cry foul over such an inordinate delay in approval of their files said they are being compelled to move from pillar to post with some officials in open demanding bribe for getting their pending cases approved. One of the ReT teachers whose regularization was due on June 2014 said he has been coming to the office of the Director Education, Srinagar at least twice in a week since he submitted his regularization file in June last year. "So far there has been no progress in my file as I didn't pay anything to the clerks here. Every day they tell me that now this certificate is pending later demand the another one but no progress really," he said. Other ReT while waiting outside the direction office in Srinagar amid chilling winter accused that at first the Chief Education Officer (CEO) had to approve the file and later it goes to the Direction office for the final node. "It is indeed disappointing and unfortunate that more than half a year has passed and our files are still pending with the Director. We fail to understand the reason, this office is a den of corruption and officials here enjoy the political patronage," said the ReT teachers. As the government claims that the ReT teachers are being regularized on their respective dates, the ground situation in Directorate of School Education is nullifying the slogans of transparent governance. "The Director is out of the country. Has he cared a little about knowing since how long the files are pending in his office? We are teachers- the builders of nation. Bribe is being demanded from us- this is really unfortunate," says another ReT teacher. Mohammad Yasin Shah, ReT Chief Finance Secretary told this newspaper that there has been slow process of the files of ReT teachers but the director has already approved some files. "We striving to get the files approved. Due to floods, some files records washed off and it took time to trace out the lost data. We have held meetings with the director school education. He has left for Bangladesh now but he has approved hundreds of files ahead of leaving the station," Shah said. |
