Review of developmental activities under R & B sector at Baramulla
Officers inspect Pantone Bridge

Baramulla, Jan 17: A meeting of the Engineers of R&B Department was convened by DDC Baramulla Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone here today. During the meeting physical and finical achievements made by the department in the district were threadbare discussed. The meeting was attended by ADDC Baramulla, JD Planning Baramulla, SE (R&B) Baramulla and other Executive Engineers. The meeting also discussed the restoration of roads and bridges after the recent floods and it was informed that 292 roads were damaged due to recent floods, all of which have been restored. Moreover, all the damaged bridges due to the recent floods have been temporarily restored and the project reports for their permanent restoration have been submitted to the Government for approval. It was given out in the meeting that out of a total outlay of Rs 1452.50 lacs in the Current district plan for R & B Sector, Rs 1022 lacs have been released with a total of 684 lacs as the expenditure, amounting to the 67% of the funds released. Meanwhile a total of 82 % expenditure amounting to 353 lacs has been utilized among a total of Rs 430 lacs released for projectisation under R & B sector in the district. Meanwhile, a team of Officers consisting of Additional district Development Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar Bhat, Superintending Engineer, R & B, Abdul Majeed Khan, Joint Director Planning, Abdul Gani Malik and other Officers made an on-spot inspection of Pantone Bridge Baramulla. The bridge has been constructed on River jehlum at Barmulla near Masjid Baitul-Mukaram at the cost of Rs. 25 Lacs and has been recently opened for pedestrians. On the occasion, the on spot suggestions from the public for improvement of the project were taken into account. Moreover, it was impressed upon the concerned agency of R & B to complete the constructions of footsteps leading to the bridge on priority basis, so that public doesn't face any sort of inconvenience.
