Skalzang Wangyal urges Union Home Minister for Disaster Management Team | | | Early Times Report
Shotopa/Kargil, Jan 21: According to a Press note of the Executive Councillor for Tourism Power and Zanskar Affairs, LAHDC Kargil, Skalzang Wangyal today requested the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh for early sending of a team from national disaster management force for early solution of the blocked Phuuktal River which is a cause of concern for whole Zanskar valley as well as for those living in the low lying areas of Leh and Kargil. He also requested the Union Defence Minister, MOS Home and MP Ladakh for early operation of MI-17 helicopter service for the stranded passengers of Zanskar who were mostly came as porters for tourists on Chadar trek. He urged the Deputy Commissioner Leh for making provision of essentially commodities from CA&PD ration store to the stranded passengers at Leh on PDS rate and also requested the GOC-14 corps Leh from possible help from the Indian Army. Skalzang Wangyail directed SDM Zanskar for setting up of gauging station at Phuktal Gonpa, Guru Gonpa and Pipiting for constant monitoring of water level and to report the same to district administration from time to time. As pear the prediction from Met department there are chances of snowfall during the next three four days, so there will no movement from Kargil to Zanskar by road Moreover it was also reported by Additional SP Kargil that travelling from Kargil to Zanskar via Penzila is not possible at the moment. So, all passengers are advice not to take the risks. |
