Out-of-job NC blaming PDP, BJP for Governor's rule
Formation of government

Rustam

JAMMU, Jan 21: The NC, which suffered the worst ever electoral defeat both in the Lok Sabha and assembly elections and which was relegated to number three position by the politically electorate, has no work to do these days, except to find fault with the PDP and the BJP so that it could remain the news. The NC could win only 15 seats in the assembly elections, 12 from the Valley and three from Jammu. In 2002 and 2008, the NC had won 28 and 28 seats, respectively. The point is that ever since 2002, when Omar Abdullah took over the party, the NC, like the Congress, has been declining and declining very fast. The people of the state have rendered the NC jobless and the result is that the out-of-job NC leadership is making irresponsible statements and blaming the PDP and the BJP for no fault of theirs. The other day, the out-on-the-limb accused the PDP and the BJP of creating political instability in the state by not handing down to the people a government. Its charge was spurious and flawed. It was not the PDP and the BJP which created political instability; it was the NC, plus the Congress, which behaved in a fashion that left the State Governor NN Vohra with no other option but to bring the administration under his direct rule by invoking section 92 of the State Constitution. It was none other the caretaker Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who on January 8 told the State Governor that he was not prepared to function as the caretaker Chief Minister any linger. He created a constitutional crisis by doing what he did that day.
Not only this, the NC and the Congress played dirty political games in order to tarnish the image of the PDP in the eyes of the Muslims of Kashmir by seeking to create an impression that the PDP was hobnobbing with the "communal" BJP for the sake of political power. Had the NC and the Congress behaved in a responsible manner, a popularly-elected govt. would have been in place before Jan 19. The NC and the Congress are responsible for the prevailing state of things. However, the good development is that things are heading towards a right direction and there is the possibility of the people getting a government sooner than later. Things could become clear even before the last day (Jan 28) of filing of nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections in the state.
