Mismanagement galore in Pahari Hostel functioning | | | Early Times Report
rajouri, Jan 21: There has allegedly been mismanagement in the functioning of Pahari Hostel for Boys here. Eight casual workers of the hostel held a demonstration today against the authorities and alleged that they had not been given salaries for the last more than eight months. They raised slogans against the warden and secretary of Pahari Advisory Board and warned the authorities that if their salaries were not released soon, they would leave the hostel. Eight hostel employees, including two cooks, a gardener, an electrician, a chowkidar and two waiters, said that they had been giving duties regularly for more than 14 hours a day but the authorities were not bothered to release their salaries. "We are finding very hard to run our families in the absence of our salaries and even shopkeepers have been refusing to give us ration and other necessary household items," said chowkidar Mohammad Ishtaq. Sources said no punctuality register for the contractual staff had been maintained in the hostel despite order No ABD/PSP/2326-34 issued by the secretary of State Advisory Board in this regard. Sources said that authorities had been releasing tuition fees so that inmates may not get any difficulties in perusing their studies. "But no tuition classes are being held for the students," they alleged, Sources said that despite the February 9, 2014, order of ex-Warden Pardeep Sharma, now principal DIET, that Aftab, computer in-charge, would hold regular classes for computer learning for the inmates of the hostel, no computer learning class was allegedly held till this year. There were also complaints by the hostel inmates that they were not getting diet as per guidelines, the sources alleged.
