BJYM delegation calls on Transport Commissioner | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 21: A delegation of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) led by State General Secretary Partap Singh Jamwal along with numbers of activists of the BJYM today called on Transport Commissioner Dilshad Khan here at her office. The delegation members presented a memorandum of demands seeking roll back in the fares in public transport. Delegation apprised Transport Commissioner Dilshad Khan over issue and said despite the fact that the fuel prices have been slashed ten times since Modi government came to power in center. He said as far as the prices of diesel are concerned, on August 31, 2014 it was Rs 59 at Delhi. Since then it decreased four times and had reached at Rupees 48.26 with a total reduction of Rs 10/- in prices of diesel in Delhi as well as J&K but transporters are charging same fares to travelers which they were charging six months ago. BJYM leaders further said whenever there is hike in the oil prices transport unions mount pressure on government for increasing the fares but when there is decrease in rates the various unions of transporters for vested insterests are putting pressure on government to adopt delaying tactics. Transport Commissioner gave patient hearing to the case and assured that meeting have been held in this regard and department has invited proposal from different stake holders and Transport Unions to rollback the fares of public transport.
