PAF holds protest against erratic power supply

Kishtwar, Jan 21: Public Awareness Front (PAF) Kishtwar led by its President Shakir Hussain Siddiqui today held a protest against erratic power supply and unscheduled power cuts in Kishtwar District and against the several other issues of public importance.
While talking to "Early Times", PAF President Shakir Siddiqui alleged embezzlement in distribution of six months free ration announced by the government in wake of aftermath of floods. He said that against 35 Kg ration only 20 or 25 Kg ration is being provided to the people that too after making them to suffer, added that reports of wide scale embezzlement and non delivery of free ration has reportedly from almost all parts of the district on daily bases.
He demanded an independent inquiry into embezzlement of government as well as in distribution of free ration. He said that non release of payments to job card holders under MGNREGA is also an issue of great concern for the poor people who are mostly dependent of MGNREGA payments for their livelihood. He said that even after nearly two years since the job card holders completed the work, the payments are yet to be released. Earlier, the protest was started from the office of Assistant Commissioner Development Kishtwar where the agitating poor laborer raised the issue of delay in release of payments to job card holders with RDD officials. The protestors in the form of rally after meeting with RDD officials reach outside DC Kishtwar Kishtwar and block the National highway for one hour. The protesters were raising slogans in support of their demands and also called on DC Kishtwar in his office chamber where the PAF officials handed over a detail memorandum to DC Kishtwar for further submission to governor N N Vohra. DC Kishtwar also assured the agitating PAF activists and the job card holders that their demands will be looked on top priority. DC Kishtwar also issued necessary direction to its subordinates for early redresser of public grievances.
