Early Times Report MENDHAR, Jan 21: As shortage of drinking water continues to be a problem in several Mendhar areas, people, who were joined by students, today held a demonstration at Banola near here and blocked Mendhar-Chatral road to vehicular traffic. Banola residents, who were joined by the students of government middle school, Dela Banola, gathered on Mendhar-Chatral road at Banola at about 10 am and blocked it to vehicular traffic amid raising of slogans against PHE department and its AEE of Mendhar sub-division. The school and Banola village were alleged to be without drinking water for the past several days. As the road blockade caused inconvenience to vehicle operators, Mendhar naib-tehsildar reached Banola at about 12 noon and spoke to the protesters, official sources said. Following an assurance from him that regular water supply would be restored to the area soon, the people dispersed peacefully. The road remained blocked for about two hours. |
