Debate on human rights organized

Jammu, Feb 11: Exhorting upon the "men in uniform" to understand values of human rights, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Technical Services, PHQ, H K Lohia has said that it is the legitimate duty of all law enforcing agencies to safe guard human rights of every citizen in all circumstances. He stressed for bringing awareness among the personnel towards their role and responsibility in protecting the rights of the people. Lohia was inaugurating day long debate competition, organized by Police Technical Services and Telecommunication at Armed Police Headquarters (APHQ) here today. Topic for the debate was "State violation of human rights escalates violence rather than control it" in which 30 speakers representing PHQ, CID, Crime, Telecommunication, Security, Traffic, workshop and railway participated. Elaborating the aims and objectives of the debate, Lohia said that the annual debate is organized on the initiatives of National Human Rights Commission to educate the police personnel about their responsibilities towards human rights.
