Sajjad all set to get a cabinet berth | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Feb 11: Peoples Conference chairman, Sajjad Ghani Lone is likely to be inducted in the state government a few days from now when the PDP-BJP coalition government assumes office. A BJP leader preferring anonymity said Sajjad Lone being an ally has to be respected. A source in the party said that Lone may either get R&B or Rural Development Department. With this Sajjad seems all set to become the second person in the Lone family to assume charge as a minister. In 70s his father, Late Abdul Ghani Lone was also a cabinet minister. Sajjad met Prime Minister Narendra Modi a month before the Assembly elections in Jammu Kashmir and described him as a humble person. "He is like my elder brother," Sajjad said. The meeting evoked widespread criticism across the state. Sajjad was later accused of herding people from his constituency to Prime Minister's rally in Srinagar. The then Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah criticized Lone and the Prime Minister for hiring people for the rally in his tweets. |
