Jammu, Feb 11: As countdown for Legislative Council elections has started after Election Commission of India has announced schedule of polling for eleven seats of Legislative Council. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is biggest player in these elections, has yet to start exercise to short-list potential candidates but tussle has been started within BJP because some "new-comers" who do not have RSS background have started mounting pressure on the party leadership to nominate them for Legislative Council seats. These "new-comers", with the influence of their money powers and high level contacts, are trying to outsmart those dedicated workers of BJP who have been working in the party since childhood and have given their blood to get the party flourished in Jammu and Kashmir. Credible sources said that some outsiders are trying to get mandate at cost of dedicated workers and to supersede those BJP leaders who have been working in this party for the last 30 years and more. Both Credible sources said after Delhi assembly poll results, BJP leadership has decided to move cautiously because there is fear among party leadership that ignoring dedicated workers at the cost of some influential "outsiders" would be proved counterproductive for the party in the days to come. In Delhi, BJP had given importance to former super cop KiranBedi by ignoring dedicated workers and party has suffered worst ever humiliating defeat. And most important of all, a Union Minister, who supports these influential outsiders, is also facing criticism after Delhi results because tickets were distributed on his advice. Credible sources said that party leadership is seriously thinking to give MLC seats to those workers who have been working with party since decades. Vibodh Gupta and Kuldeep Raj Gupta of Rajouri, Chander Mohan Sharma, Mohan Singh Chouhan, SubashJandial, YudhvirSethi, all from Jammu, KoushalKotwal from Bhaderwah, Kashmiri Singh and SubashBhagat from Samba, JanakBharati, Satish Sharma from Kathua are some of the front runners for MLC seats. |
