CEET, WWF-India organize save 'Gharana Wetland' workshop

Jammu, Feb 11: Centre for Environment Education and Training (CEET) and WWF-India jointly with Zonal Education Officer Miran Sahib today organized workshop on Conservation of Gharana Wetland and Migratory Birds at Government Girls Middle School Kotli Bhagwan Singh.
Chairman WWF-India (J&K) Chapter Dr C M Seth was the chief guest on the occasion while Head Master Government School Rattian attended the occasion as guest of honor.
Over 100 students under the supervision of their teachers from Government Middle School Chohala, Government High School Boys Jinder Mechlu, Government Primary School ChakHarni, Government MS Rattian, Government Primary School Raipur Gujjranwala and Government Girls Middle School Kotli Bhagwan Singh participated various events viz. painting, quiz, symposium and folk art competitions held as the part of workshop. In his inaugural address the chief guest Chairman WWF-India (J&K) Chapter Dr C M Seth said that Jammu district is blessed with some of the wonderful wetlands where thousands of migratory birds visit every winter. Stressing to preserve the wetlands in the state, he said that the younger generation should be made aware of natural assets so that they become responsible citizens in future to save these birds and wetlands. Among other speakers who spoke on this occasion included Mrs Vijay Bharti teacher Chohala School, Mrs Prem Lata and Rita Choudhary teachers HS Jinder, Deepak Kumari PS Chak Harni and Gurmeet Kaur of MS Kotli Bhagwan. Thereafter the chief guest and guest of honour distributed the prizes to all winners who were declared first three winners in different categories of competitions held today during daylong workshop. Earlier at the onset of occasion Parmod Kumar Head Master of Kotli Bhagwan School welcomed the guests while Pramod Kumar Head Master Government (Girls) Middle School Kotli Bhagwan Singh presented vote of thanks.
