samba, Feb 11: Aiming to strengthen Police-Public relations and to create awareness among the masses particularly among student community, District Police Samba this morning organized a Seminar on Drug Abuse at Government Degree College Samba under Civic Action Programme (CAP) in which students from different educational institutions participated. In the seminar, participants told several reasons responsible for this evil as well as its implications on the individual and on society. The participants told that the drug addicts lose their conscience, self-control, will power and memory, in absence of which they become anti-social elements, doing anti-social activities. Sometimes the evil results in suicide and the ruin of the whole family. If not suicide, the drugs and narcotics have fatal effects which invite untimely death. The young boys and girls must be made aware, of the fact that they will be crippled by the rampant use of drugs. Thereafter, Joginder Singh, SSP Samba who was the Chief Guest on the occasion stressed for the eradication of this menace at any cost and suggested that Public opinion must be created against it as well as the different media of mass communication must be pressed into service to combat the evil. |
