Reasi, Feb 11: District road safety committee today held meeting under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Reasi-Shiv Kumar Gupta.
Senior Superintendent of Police-Sujit Kumar, SDM Mahore, CMO-Dr Parminder Singh, CEO-Ashok Sanyal, Executive Engineers PWD, PMGSY, officials from BRO and members of NGO were also present on the occasion.
ARTO Reasi-Rajesh Gupta gave a detailed presentation regarding the measures taken to avoid accidents, awareness drives for drivers and common people and punitive steps for defaulters.
CMO informed that the health department is giving training to all its officials at block levels as well as officials from other departments regarding disaster management so that in case of any emergency, they can themselves provide first aid to the injured.
The meeting also discussed the issues like streamlining of main roads, ensuring safer footpaths, bringing in stringent regulations to deal with drunken driving and stricter monitoring of helmets for motorists.
ADC said for road safety stress should be on using education, enforcement and engineering to enable all Road users to travel in confidence, free from fear of death or injury. |
