BJP leaders, aspirants eye 8 nominated LC seats | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 24: While some aspirants were not considered for LegislativeCouncil berths after denial of thickets in Assembly elections, the expectations are high among many BJP leaders as nomination for four seats to be nominated to Upper House soon after the election process is over. According to sources the expectations are high among the BJP leaders especially those who were earlier expecting mandate in Assembly elections and later in Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council poll for their nomination. Sources said that soon after the poll process for 11 seats of LC is over, the process for nomination of eight seats to the House will begin and in case the BJP-PDP coalition assumes office by that time the parties will share four seats each. The aspirants in BJP from all the three regions have started lobbying in their favour to seek Party High Command's favour. Sources said about a dozen aspirants are eying the four seats and every one leader is trying to score points over each other to ensure that his name should figure in list. They are making rounds in Union Capital and RSS headquarters to seek blessings of senior Party leaders as well as to ensure their name will figure in the list. Sources said some leaders whose names did not figure in the list of Assembly as well as Legislative Council list have also expressed their resentment before the senior leadership of the party and sought an assurance that their name must figure in the list for remaining seats of Upper House as well as heads of various bodies. The Party leadership has also given assurance to these disgruntled BJP men from the State that they will get justice and the leaders who were in the Party for years together will be given preference over the new entrants. This is the reason that the BJP High Command did not consider the names of the new entrants in the Party by granting them mandate in Assembly as well as LC elections, sources added. Sources said following the pressure of party men and recent rout of BJP in Delhi Assembly poll, the Party High Command has also decided torefrain from sidelining its old activists. Sources said BJP has in clear terms conveyed this decision to new entrants asking them not to eye the LC seats as party can't |
