JAMMU, Mar 19: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized Mehfil-e-Ghazal based on the poetry of Vidya Rattan Aasi, prominent and renowned Urdu poet today at KL Saigal Hall, Jammu. According to press release, Anjali Sharma, Director Doordarshan, Jammu was the Chief Guest. Vidya Rattan Aasi, Haroon Rashid, Secretary and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were also present in the presidium. While speaking on the occasion, Anjali Sharma appreciated JKAACL for organizing Mehfil-e-Ghazal and said that Vidya Rattan Aasi is nationally acclaimed and most desired poet of Urdu. She further said that in today's programme, the selective ghazals of Aasi presented by Dharmash Nargotra, prominent singer and music composer succeeded in making this programme memorable and successful. She also complimented the singers which include Deeksha Nargotra and Vishakha Bhardwaj for their melodious performances. She also applauded the performances of accompanists. Rakesh Anand(Flute),Sunil Sharma(Synth),Joginder Paul(Tabla) and Vikas Nagar(Guitar). Earlier, while welcoming the guests, Haroon Rashid, Secretary of the Academy said that it's a matter of privilege for the Academy to organize Mehfil-e-Ghazal particularly on Vidya Rattan Aasi, Famous poet of the region. He said that organizing such functions provide a space where tha budding artists can perform with the established singers and feel encouraged by receiving big applause from the writers, intellectuals and music lovers. He also briefed about the activities of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Shahnawaz, Editor Gojri and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary. Vidya Rattan Aasi also recited some of his best collections which were highly appreciated and well received by the audience.
