| Mufti leads house with maturity, responsibility | | |

Jammu, Mar 19: On the second day of the budget session of the J&K Legislative Assembly, it was abundantly clear that the house is genuinely led by a mature and wise leader whose intervention could not only pacify the agitating opposition but even leave a vibrant opposition speechless.
The Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed exhibited statesmanship when he intervened twice during the question hour that started at 10am in the morning.
Mufti first responded to a supplementary of NC MLA , Mohammad Akbar Lone on providing monthly allowances to the educated unemployed youth of the state. The question was pertaining to the Planning Ministry which is under control of Chief Minister himself, however, Finance Minister Dr. Haseeb Drabu was replying on behalf of the chief minister. Lone wanted to know as whether the government was contemplating to provide sustenance allowances to the educated unemployed youth. Dr Haseeb in his reply wrote that there was no such proposal as yet under the consideration of the government. However, when Lone insisted that this was an alarming issue and the government was duty bound towards its subjects. On this chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed intervened and very politely committed that the unemployment was a grave problem and that the government will certainly try to provide employment to the educated youth in a transparent manner.
Mufti went one step ahead saying that the earlier government too was facing this problem and they too tried in their own wisdom to address the issue.
"The assembly records stand testimony that whenever the then chief minister Omar Abdullah intervened on such matters in the house, he only played blame game and didn't showed any respect to the chair he was holding" a senior journalist sitting in the media gallery instantly said after watching the proceedings.
Mufti, for the second time again intervened on the question of rehabilitation of the flood victims and this time too he exhibited utmost responsibility.
A senior journalist working with a national daily while having tea with this correspondent outside the assembly complex said that he does not know whether this dispensation could deliver on its promises, however, it seems that there is somebody who is a real head and who has the ability to take on board everyone including his worst enemies. "I am sure he will lead by example" said the journo. |
