NC MLC knows no issue, repeats concern over Urdu language | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 19: National Conference (NC) MLC Master Noor Hussain whose contribution in the Legislative Council is under scrutiny is more worried about promotion of Urdu language and seemingly unaware of all other issues concerning the state. He has been repeating this question since the last four years. Today again, Master Noor Hussain asked the state government to given an account of steps being taken for the promotion of Urdu language. The only difference was that this time it was Minister for Education Syed Naeem Akhtar who replied to his question. And again, it was Chairman Legislative Council; Amrit Malhotra urged government to take steps for promotion of Urdu language which is official language of the state. He was the one who had intervened during the last budget session and asked the state government to form a committee, which they did. The committee also gave some recommendations but they were never implemented. Meanwhile, Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar while replying to a question by Master Noor Hussain said that government had constituted a high level committee in 2013 for promotion of Urdu language in the state. Minister said that the Committee has submitted its report to the government and the said report is presently under examination. Minister added that recruitment of Urdu teachers shall be consequent upon the decision on the same. In reply to supplementaries raised to the main question by Jahangir Hussain Mir, Dr. Shahnaz Ganai, Ghulam Nabi Monga and Surinder Kumar Chowdhary, the Minister said that all efforts would be made to streamline system through rationalization of Urdu teachers. Replying to another question by Naresh Kumar Gupta, the Minister said that the construction works of school buildings in school education department is being executed through R&B under RMSA and State Plan. He said that the construction works of SSA are being executed through Village Education Committees as per SSA guidelines. With regard to opening new primary schools in education zone Bhaderwah, Bala, Chiralla and Bhelisa, the Minister said that new primary schools shall be opened if the areas qualify under the norms/guidelines of SSA scheme. The Minister said at present there is no proposal for upgradation of High Schools at Nichalla Thathri (Girls) Bhaderwah and High School Chagsoo Panshaie in Thathri zone of Doda to the Higher Secondary School level. Minister for Agriculture Production, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura said that development of tourist spots in the State including Jammu is being given focused attention by way of creation of tourism related infrastructure. The Minister was replying to a question by Charanjit Singh on behalf of Minister for Tourism in Legislative Council today. Minister said that the related activities are being carried out through the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, JKTDC and 7 Tourism Development Authorities are functioning in Jammu Division. With regard to the infrastructure being created under State Plan/Central financial assistance, the Minister said that construction of TRCs, budgeted accommodation, way side facilities etc. are included for convenience of the public visiting the tourist destinations.In reply to supplementaries raised to the main question by Charanjeet Singh and Vibod Gupta, the Minister said that development of tourist spots at various new destinations are being taken up by the government and assured that Gharana Wetland as a tourist destination will also be considered. With regard to steps taken on the development of artificial lake at river Tawi, the Minister said that the project "Construction of Barrage" across the river Tawi is being carried out by I&FC department at an estimated cost of Rs. 69.70 crore against which Rs. 57 crore has been released and spent till date and 85% of Civil and 80% of Mechanical works have been completed. Minister for Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari in reply to a question raised by Jahangir Hussain Mir today in the Legislative Council said ITIs have been established in Poonch, Mendhar and Surankote, however, presently there is no proposal for setting up of ITI at Tehsil Mandi in district Poonch. The Minister assured to carry out a survey to look into the demand for provision of ITI in the area. Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today said that no violation of laws will be allowed in future in construction of multi storey buildings/colonies in Jammu. The Deputy Chief Minister was replying to a question by Jugal Kishore in Legislative Council. Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Mohammad Ashraf Mir while replying to the question said that the building permission for construction of multi storey buildings is being accorded by Building Operation Controlling Authority (BOCA) of JDA and JMC in their respective jurisdictions, as per the building bye-laws. Minister said that any violation of the norms would be dealt in accordance with the directions of the High Court. |
