Early Times Report Srinagar, Mar 19: The Srinagar-Jammu highway was thrown open for vehicular traffic on Thursday after remaining closed for two consecutive days due to landslides triggered by heavy rains. Officials said that the 300-km highway was thrown open for one way traffic this morning and over 2000 vehicles, including light motor vehicles, load carriers and passenger buses were allowed towards Srinagar. However, the traffic was suspended briefly after a landslide hit Nashri area of the mountainous Ramban district. "After brief disruption, traffic was again allowed to ply on the highway. Earlier, we cleared all the stranded vehicles from the highway," an official of the traffic department said. He said that if the weather conditions remained pleasant, traffic from Srinagar to Jammu will be allowed on the highway Friday. |
