Member Secy SSLA case: DB grants two weeks time to respondents | | | Jammu, Mar24: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Rufi Khan & Ors seeking effective prosecution of criminal trials particularly involving capital sentence and life imprisonment with a view to prevent crime and to make punishments a real deterrent to ensure the quality of Public Prosecutors and the guidelines for appointing the Public Prosecutors/ Additional Public Prosecutors, a Division Bench today granted two weeks' time to state on the assurance of Advocate General that immediately after the ongoing budget session the cabinet take into the consideration the issue involved in the appointment of Member Secretary JKSLSA. When hearing in this regard was taken up the Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat granted two weeks' time to state on the assurance of Advocate General that immediately after the ongoing budget session the cabinet take into the consideration the issue involved in the appointment of Member Secretary JKSLSA. During the hearing Advocate General (AG) R A Jan who was present in the Court assured the Court that immediately after budget session is over, cabinet take into the consideration the issue involved. Upon this Court granted two weeks time to do the needful and directed Registry to list this PIL On April 15, 2015. (JNF) |
