But for defunct PSC, 99 KAS officers would have assumed office | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Mar 24: Around 99 candidates who qualified the Civil Service Examinations held by the PSC last year still await posting as the PSC lacks the members required for selection of gazette officers. However, with the state government recommending the name of Lateef-ul-Zaman Deva for the post of chairperson of the PSC, the anxious candidates are hopeful of a fair deal in the coming days. Pertinent to mention all the formalities including medical test of the successful candidates have been performed but the process cannot be completed unless the chairman and other members assume office. The last member of the PSC, KB Jandiyal retired in November, 2014. The chairperson, SL Bhat had retired a month earlier. The candidates have been waiting for posting since then. Many reasons have been given for the delay. The devastation caused by September floods and the assembly elections being some of them. The previous government, however, recommended some names but the Governor N N Vohra rejected the recommendations and returned the file for technical reasons including property statements of the recommended persons. It is in place to mention here that last year's examinations are scheduled to be held in April. |
