GHSS Topneel, Doda narrates story of official neglect | 600 dumped in 3 rooms | | Bijay Charak Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 24: The Government Higher Secondary School Topneel, Doda is a live example of virtual neglect shown by previous government, which otherwise had concentrated on 'Transfer Industry' rather than prioritizing education, wherein 600 students of 6th to 12thstandard found packed in three rooms. Moreover, the previous government especially the then Education Minister, who was allegedly more interested in shifting teachers, masters from one place to another, had failed to provide teachers in these rural areas, and also in GHSS Topneel, where only three permanent teachers are posted, besides no Principal and since the establishment of school nearly a decade back, there is not an iota of change in terms of facilities. Sources informed Early Times that in the year 2007 state government has upgraded Topneel Higher Secondary School but till date the school has one building block in which five rooms including one store, one Labortary and one for staff, rest of others three are classrooms. It is very astoundingly that the three classrooms which were established by state government but these were not established as per the norms of Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education. "As per norms that in a Primary school the students sitting capacity should have 45 but in Government Higher Secondary School Topneel of Doda district where only three classroom which also floating norms on wind and their students sitting capacity was 25. One would ask state government that How is it possible that 600 students accommodated in three rooms", they said. They further said that in GHSS Topneel has sanctioned 14 posts of lecturers but surprising yet the state government only fill six posts of lecturers in which two permanent, and other four are working on contract basis. Moreover, the institution is also headless since upgraded. "Children's of state policy maker studied in top private schools of state or out of state why they worried about the children's of poor people who are living in remote areas", sources criticized, adding that if they are interested then the situation of such institution is totally different. Repeated call by Early Times to Chief Education Officer, Doda, Ajit Kumar Sharma and Director School Education Jammu, Simrandeep Singh didn't pick the phone call. |
