SRINAGAR, Mar 24 : Lack of discipline has been found in the Congress party. It is more so in the Kashmir unit of the party. Same was witnessed few days back during a function held here to welcome newly appointed Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President, Ghulam Ahmad Mir. Militant turned counter insurgent, Usman Abdul Majeed who was elected to the legislative assembly from Bandipora constituency delivered sermon and asked the party workers to behave properly. However, the MLA Bandipora was also found to be breaking the protocol during the party function. Without showing any respect for the outgoing PCC Chief, Professor Saif-ud-din Soz the MLA Bandipora was seen talking to some of his party leaders and workers. He was even rebuked by Soz, but he did not pay any heed and carried on with his mischief. Reprimand from the outgoing PCC Chief did not make any impact on Usman and he took the things very lightly. If people thought that the indiscipline from this militant turned counter insurgent was limited to the chit chat only, then they were highly mistaken. The MLA Bandipora left the podium in a huff and broke the protocol. He went to the PCC office located in the backyard of the podium and sat there while the main function was still going. Pertinently the outgoing PCC Chief could be seen pleading with his leaders and workers to stay put so that he could complete his finish. Soz before starting his speech had said that he would talk about certain political issues, but at the end of the speech it was observed that the outgoing PCC Chief did not talk much politics. Usman Majeed may be a politician today, but he cannot wish away his past when he was found inflicting atrocities on common masses in his native district in the North Kashmir. Ever since joining the politics, the MLA Bandipora has been found involved in various violent incidents in his district or outside. The MLA Bandipora has many times attacked the government officials and complaints have been also lodged against him from time to time. There are allegations that Usman used money power in the recent assembly elections and it was due to this reason that he got elected from the Bandipora constituency. Allegations have been leveled against the former militant turned counter insurgent that he resorted to large scale loot and plunder of the green gold rich Bandipora district. When Usman was a militant and later a counter insurgent he took full advantage of his gun and looted the forests in the North Kashmir district like anything. The MLA Bandipora did not limit his activities to Bandipora district only. He went to the Baramulla district and also Kupwara district while carrying out his activities. Since there was fear of backlash not many people could stand against him while Usman was busy in causing huge losses to the forest cover in the North Kashmir.
