Govt causes stir in bureaucratic circles | Axe likely to fall on 200 babus | |
Peerzada Ummer Early Times Report srinagar, Mar 24: The government has caused a stir in bureaucratic circles by mulling for another major overhaul in the middle rung administration. Chaotic, nervous and on tenterhooks, the directors, chairmen and scores of other babus expect transferred. Sources told Early Times that the chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and the deputy CM Nirmal Singh have jointly constituted a team of officials who have been assigned the task to go through each and every file of the bureaucrats who were accorded key positions during the previous government. It has come to the notice of the new government that various departments in the state have become hub of corruption and nepotism with no accountability for the wrong measures taken. The committee in its initial findings has submitted a report to the government in which it has been mentioned in detail that various key positions given to blue eyed officials in the state administration is marring the initiatives of the good governance. The file about the tainted babus submitted to the chief minister and deputy chief minister is being thoroughly examined with the government expecting a major cleansing in the civil administration in very near future. "More than 200 Directors and Deputy Directors are being transferred within a week by the government. The main purpose behind the move is to accord key posts to the efficient officers so that people no longer face hardships in getting their works done," one of the officials said. Sources divulged that the officials against whom the complaints were received by the government would be relocated from their positions and posted in some off shoot offices. "The list of the middle rung administration that is being transferred mainly constitute people who were given lucrative postings during the tenure of previous government. The normal functioning of the offices was already affected besides the public becoming disgruntled against the government over the continuity of such officials on these posts," senior official told Early Times. Now when the new government in Jammu and Kashmir has sent a jarring signal to the tainted officials of the state, the process of bag packing has already began with some directors and deputy directors already seem busy in reading what is written on the wall. Early Times has learnt that the General Administration Department which has been assigned the task to prepare the list of the tainted officials to be transferred is getting flooded with the phone calls, being asked shamelessly by scores of Babus that whether they are in the list? The shock waves that are being sent by the government has indeed created turbulence within the NC and Congress camps which earlier had installed their own men in the offices wherein a common man was getting grilled most. Seen by many as a welcome step, this remains to be seen that who the government would tackle the corruption and partiality menace that has drawn in roots deep in the system. |
