Srinagar, May 13: Strongly condemning the rumours being spread by some people that there would be another flood in the Kashmir valley, the Meteorological department today said the sole mandate of this department is to issue timely weather forecast only. In a statement here, a Met spokesman said it has come to the notice of this office that some anti-social elements, quoting this office director Sonam Lotus, were spreading rumours of another flood in Kashmir.
This office clarifies to public, "Neither this office nor any official of this department has issued any such statement. Further, it is hereby clarified that the sole mandate of this department is to issue timely weather forecast to the administration and the public.
Therefore the rumour of another flood is completely wrong, malicious and baseless to tarnish the image of the department." This office highly condemn these anti-social elements for their act of evil, the statement said. |
