ICICI Lombard fails to provide health insurance cards to Govt employees
Subscribers smell a rat in Govt.’s largesse to private company

Jammu, May 13:
ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited, has failed to issue policy documents to hundreds of government employees who were asked to get themselves insured through the company.
Reliable sources informed Early Times that, in 2014 the previous government tied up with ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited and introduced Insurance Policy for all Gazetted Employees on mandatory basis but surprisingly majority of Gazetted Employees have been waiting for policy number and health cards.

“The government had also directed all DDOs to deduct an amount of Rs 6081 rupees on account of annual premium from the salaries of the gazette employees and remit the same into the government treasury, “Sources claimed and the amount was deducted from the employees account but the company failed to send policy and other information to insured persons.
They further said while a new circular also issued by state government regarding renewal of policy for 2015-16 from the same company and the amount Rs 6081 rupees was again deducted from their salaries , but the employees still have no information regarding their policy details.

Sources alleged that the scheme was introduced in all government departments on the recommendations of some politicians who had personal interest for which forced government employees to buy insurance policy to the company even though most of employees had already bought insurance policies themselves.

A Senior official of the J&K government wishing anonymity said that he had reliable information that a top politician of the state had a stake in the company and he manipulated to the government order issued to this effect.

When contacted Principal Secretary of Finance Department of J&K BB Vyas said that the company had singed an MoU with State Government following which order was issued to all government departments.
