Early Times Report
Jammu, May 12: All is not well in University of Jammu, as senior professors in Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) are staying away from the classes leaving students on the mercy of contractual lecturers.
Sources informed Early Times, despite availability of required permanent faculty for various courses offered by the DDE, the administration outsources manpower to conduct classes, PCPs and evolution of assignments.
"Dr Anju Thappa , Assistant Professor, at DDE taught a single course (501) during Personal Contact Programme classes of Post Graduate Hindi, III semester for session 2014-15 begun from September 15, 2014 for 20 days," documents available with this newspaper reveal that during the PCP of III semester, seven courses were taught, and six out of seven courses 500, 503, 502, 506, 505 and 504 were taught by outsourced three teachers.
Similarly, Dr Anju Thappa again gave a slip to PCP of MDP Hindi IIIrd semester held on September 15, 2014 and taught a single course. "In the PCP, total eight courses were taught, Dr Anju being a permanent teacher at DDE taught course number 501 for first 10 days only, while at same time, outsourced and contractual teachers run the show efficiently, Dr Ashok Kumar taught three courses, Vandana Sharma taught two courses and Prof Raj Kumar also taught two courses", the documents read and add that in case of evolution of assignments Dr Anju picked two courses each from first and third semester.
"Dr Anju evaluated course number 404 in first and 501 in third semester, while at the same time Vandana Sharma evaluated two courses in first semester (400-405) and two courses in second (502-504) other three teachers evaluated one course each in both semesters", the paper revealed.
Another blue eyed, Dr Anupama Vohra also enjoyed blessings of administration, as former taught four units in PCP, English First Semester out of units of four courses, while rest of units were taught by outsourced and contractual lecturers.
