Jammu May 13: The transfer of three masters from Kishtwar to Ramban district including President of Masters/Teachers Association Mehboob Qazi has snowballed into major controversy in communally sensitive Kishtwar district. National Conference and Congress on Wednesday threatened to launch an agitation if the government fails to revoke the transfer orders.
The President of the association Mehboob Qazi while addressing a news conference in Kishtwar town on Tuesday had alleged that Director School Education Jammu, and Education Minister Naeem Akther and his junior minister Priya Sethi are transferring people in a selective manner and they are targeting members of a particular community.
The National Conference and Congress today joined the bandwagon and threatened mass scale agitation in case transfer orders are not revoked forthwith.
As per the details available with “Early Times”, Congress and National Conference leadership of Kishtwar district held a joint meeting in which Former MoS Home Sajjad Kichloo and JKPCC Vice President and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori also participated. Beside Saroori and Kichloo, several top rank leaders of NC and Congress discussed the situation arising out of mass scale transfer of Masters and lecturers of a particular community.
The participant slammed the government for selective transfers and cautioned that government move can trigger the communal divide in the region. The speakers said that the transfers are being ordered to settle personal grudges.
“There are 298 Master grade posts lying vacant in Kishtwar district and schools are without masters--- then how come the masters are being transferred from Kishtwar to Ramban” read the resolution passed by the NC and Congress during the meeting which was later handed over to Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar by senior NC leader Shabir Ahmed Kamal.
The resolution further stated: “All the speakers unanimously appealed honorable Education Minister Naeem Akther to look into the matter personally and cancel their transfer orders issued by the Director School Education Jammu.”
People who attended the meeting include ex-MLA Qazi Jal Din, Senior Congress leader Pardeep Parihar , Haji Ghulam Hassan Mir, Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Shokat Ali Butt, D D Farooq, Kartar Singh, Thakur Prathvi Singh, Abdul Latief, Mohammad Amin Tapal, Mohammad Iqbal Sheikh, Nazir Ahmed, Asif Qazi and others.
