Police readying for smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra: IG Jammu | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 13: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Range Danesh Rana said the police has prepared and enhanced its presence enroute to Cave shrine Amarnath in South Kashmir to ensure smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage. Interacting with media persons in Rajouri during his day long visit to Rajouri district where he attended a security review meeting with senior police officers and also held a crime review meeting. After chairing meetings of Police officials, Rana told media persons, the districts SP's have been instructed to project their demands during the yatra period so that all necessary arrangements along the yatra camps along the National Highway NH-1A, shelter points, Bhagwati Nagar camp and other places can be made in time. He said initial security review meetings have already taken place and now the emphasis on beefing up security grid to ensure no untoward incident takes place during the yata period. He said threadbare discussions were held to review the security arrangements made for the systematic conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. He also emphasized for establishing joint control room for better and close coordination with other agencies to ensure smooth conduct of annual pilgrimage. He advised the police officers to ensure humane approach while dealing with public and cautioned them to remain extra vigilant and stern while dealing with criminals and anti-social elements. Commenting on the security arrangements during the yatra period IG Jammu said the main focus always remain security of the convoy and all efforts are on to ensure safety of the pilgrims undertaking the yatra scheduled from July 2-August 29. IGP Jammu also clarified anyone who wishes to reach Kashmir via Mughal road one can embark journey but the convoy movement would take place only via Jammu- Srinagar National Highway-NH1A. Responding to query regarding threats from across the border and recent inputs related to fidayeen attacks in Jammu region, IGP said such inputs keep pouring in time to time and such reports helps to further enhance existing security grid. He said we are fully prepared and have beefed up security grid to ensure full protection to the pilgrims and general public living in border areas.
