Vigilant police arrest accused involved in ‘assaulting girl’ within 24 hrs

Rajouri, May 13: Acting swiftly Rajouri police, under the supervision of Sr Superitendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri Dr Haseeb Mughal arrested the accused within 24 hours who was involved in assaulting a girl student near Abdullah Bridge on Tuesday.
“The accused has been identified as Amir Manhas s/o Mohd Ayub resident of Jawhar Nagar (Manhas Mohalla ) and was also booked in the month of January this year for organizing attack on a police party at Jawahar Nagar in which four policemen were injured,” police sources said
The accused, according to police, is a drug addict and had committed the crime without any prior intension/planning as during preliminary investigation it has been established that the accused had no links with the girl in the past.
“The accused in intoxicated condition (undr influence of Drugs) boarded in an auto-rickshaw bearing regd no JK11-4070 and occupied seat besides the sister of victim, identified as Rozia Asif d/o Shamash Din r/o Panja Chowk, and started teasing and even dared to grope her which was resented by the victim and her sister, police officer said.
“As the girls objected his indecent, the accused in a fit of rage started thrashing the duo and reportedly assaulted the girl with a weapon causing her deep injury, police said.
“The accused was unknown to the victim and her sister but they identified the motorcyclist and on their identification police party lead by SI, Jahangir and under the guidance of Yash Pal Singh, SHO raided the house of the accused late in the night hours but didn't find him, police officer said, adding, “in the wee hours today police conducted simultaneous raids and arrested the accused hiding inside a room of his house.”
“In this connection case FIR No 239/2015 u/s 354/323/504/506 RPC registered at P/S Rajouri and further investigation is going on, police said.
