Mufti didn't pave way for BJP to enter Kashmir : Mehboob Beg

Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, May 13: A day after National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah accused Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed of "paving way for BJP's entry into the Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party said that it was the mandate given by the people of Jammu to BJP that enabled it to be the part of the government in Jammu and Kashmir.
"People in the three divisions of the state gave three different mandates and PDP had no role in it. We secured the maximum seats in Kashmir and in Jammu it was BJP that outnumbered all the parties. So to level such accusations give no sense," PDP chief spokesperson Dr Mehboob Beg said adding that government formation with the BJP is aimed at to address the problems of the people and give a flip to the development process in the state. On BJP's claims that it has registered 50,000 members from old Srinagar during its membership drive, Mehboob Beg said, "Omar Abdullah says that it was due to Mufti Sayeed that BJP was able to register 50,000 members from old Srinagar city while Dr Farooq Abdulla contradicted the statement of Omar and has said that he doesn't believe in such figures. To their own questions, they answer themselves so why to accuse PDP for everything. People are wise enough to judge which party is best for them," he said. Responding to a question, Beg said that after sometime, people will start feeling the impact of the government. "There will be all round development in the state and Centre will soon fill the State coffers. Our Chief Minister is serious on the development issue and he means business. People are the best judge. They have right to teach us a lesson if we fail to perform, but hopefully PDP led government will deliver the goods and people will back and support this party every time," he said.
