Govt Polytechnic College without faculty, equipments, basic facilities | | | Arun Trisal Early Times Report
Kathua, May 13: Though Prime Minister Narendra Modi's innovative ideas from Japan, Australia and USA to make India technically sound, sounds good, but the technical colleges in the state are crying hoarse over lack of basic facilities and equipments. It is a frequent phenomenon that the students of different government run polytechnic colleges lament before concerned authorities to provide faculty members but it seems that State Ministry of Technical education has shut down its eyes and pushing the future of the students into dark. Students of Polytechnic College Barnoti today bled their hearts out to media raising several demands to facilitate their college. Sandip Singh Katoch, a polytechnic student hailing from Doda district like his companions got admission in Govt Polytechnic College Barnoti running in a private building alleged the state government for not providing suitable faculty in the college. He said there are six subjects in his stream but only two subjects were taught throughout the session due to lack of sufficient faculty. He said the technical college is running without the laboratory that triggers distress among students who get admission with the hope to learn and serve the country through technical education. He asked if how a student could utilize his technical education when he himself learns nothing from such grungy college. Yogeshwar Singh had also same views and added that they leave college after one or two classes as lack of faculty members affects their education. He said first batch of mechanical division is about to out but they have still not prepared their practical work due to unavailability of workshop in the college. It is relevant to mention here that all other government polytechnic colleges in district Kathua have similar situation and run without proper infrastructure. The students of different polytechnic colleges situated in Kathua held a protest demonstration few days back and blocked National Highway at Rajbagh. The protesters were pacified by district administration with the hope to proceed with their demands to high authority but nothing has been done till date. Amit Mehra another students said the students raised issue with the principal of the college who usually formulates several excuses and suggests getting tuition from private institutions. He said how a man in responsible post could give such a lewd suggestion to students. The students pointed out the punctuality of the existing staff members and said the college is running without proper inspection by higher authority that urges faculty to work on their own will. When approached, principal of the Government Polytechnic College Barnoti, retorted ET team and ordered security to push them out of the college. The team just wanted to ask the reason of lack of facilities in technical college and precede the matter to concern authority for redress. His uncongenial attitude weakened the morale of team and students of the college. |
