Inderwal/Kishtwar, May 31: Vice President J&K PCC, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today launched membership drive in Inderwal constituency asking cadre to go on a vigorous campaign to strengthen and expand secular and progressive space in the constituency. Saroori who is also a MLA from Inderwal constituency, have asked the Congress workers to enroll members who are committed to the ideology and principles of the party and lay special emphasis on youth, women, and other downtrodden sections of the society. People of Kahara, Bhalessa, Bhatyas, Jakyas, Bathri and adjoining areas have demanded electricity to the remaining un-electrified villages of the areas and scarcity of water. Saroori while addressing, said that the Power department have issued Notice Inviting Tenders (NITs) at least thrice for award of the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) phase 2nd but there was no response from any companies while as local companies were found ineligible in the light of the guidelines fixed by the Union Ministry. "J&K Government had made the request to the Union Ministry of Power for relaxations in the contract conditions in order to facilitate at least local companies to execute the projects', Saroori said and adding that within a month time some contractors will get the contract or Power department will start this project departmentally. By starting the work on 2nd phase of RGGVY it will cater the leftover un-electrified villages in the whole Erstwhile Doda district. |
