Jammu, May 31: The Labour Office is likely to seize bank accounts of gun factories owners as has been demanded by hundreds of agitating workers. Sources told Early Times that Labour Officer Shiv Kumar on Saturday visited the protest site to have conversation with the workers who are on strike for last two weeks demanding increment in their wages. "Kumar listened to the workers' grievances. Later he made a call to the president of the gun factories' owners union from his mobile phone in front of the protestors. But surprisingly, the president did not be respond to Kumar's repeated calls," said the sources. Later, the Labour Officer asked the protesting workers to visit Assistant Labour Commissioner's office on Monday. Meanwhile, the agitating workers demanded the Labour officer to take strict action against the owners by seizing their bank account as per Labour Act. "The Labour Officer asked them to give a written application in this connection with Assistant Labour Commissioner. He assured that appropriate action will be taken as per Labour Law as the provision of seizing of bank account has been given in the Act," said the sources. Meanwhile, a delegation of Center of Indian Trade Union (CITU) led by Sham Prasad Kesar and Om Parkash has left for Srinagar to meet its CITU's state president MY Tarigami and Labour Commissioner Vipra Bhal and others. |
