Srinagar, May 31 : Pleasant weather continued though sun was playing hide and seek in the Kashmir valley, where night temperature dropped again and maximum temperature remained below normal. A Met department spokesman said here this afternoon that there could be light rain or thundershowers in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.He said during the subsequent two days, there is possibility of light to moderate rain at few places in the state. After witnessing drop in the minimum temperature, weather again turned cloudy in the valley coupled with winds, making the weather pleasant, much to the delight of tourists who had come from different parts of the country, where heat wave has already claimed more than one thousand lives. However, due to breakdown in the communication in north Kashmir, temperature at world famous ski resort of Gulmarg was not available. Summer capital, Srinagar, where the sun was playing hide and seek since this morning witnessed a degree drop in the minimum temperature against yesterday though it was about a notch above normal.The spokesman said against yesterdays 13.6 degree it was 12.7 degree, 0.7 degree above normal in the city where light rain or thundershowers would occur and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 24 degree and 11 degree respectively during the next 24 hours, which will be below normal.He said yesterday the maximum temperature was 24.8 degrees which was more than three notches below normal. |
