Hundreds of Applicants Miss CET 2015, CCA asks for Government Help
5/31/2015 11:31:06 PM
Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, May 31 : Coaching Centres Association (CCA) of Kashmir today termed the CET 2015 as a disaster for number of Kashmiri students as many of them could not reach the examination centres and many more missed the chance to appear in other competitive exams due to clash of dates. The association criticized the timing of the examination, which the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) didn't change despite pleas from students and parents.
"This examination did more harm than provide benefit to students. Hundreds of students couldn't reach the examination centres due to protests, particularly on the foreshore road," said G N Var chairman CCA. "According to government figures more than 2000 students couldn't appear in the examinations and government has no plans to help them. Many of these cases are genuine as it was the government's inability to clear roads for them that cost them their chance." The association asked the government to take steps towards helping them. The association also criticized the BOPEE for sticking to May 30-31 date sheet. "May 30 and 31 the CET 2015. But on the same date there were many other competitive exams like AIIMS and AMU entrance examinations, where Kashmiri students couldn't appear," said Var. "There are more entrance examinations which coincided with this date and in all these cases Kashmiri students lost the chance to appear." The association said that the date for CET 2015 was "finalized without any research". "They should have postponed or preponed the examination so that Kashmiri students would have appeared in all other examinations too. It was a golden chance for them, but the students lost it," said Var.
