One killed in road mishap | | |

Banihal, June 5: One person was killed when an oil tanker met with accident on Jammu Kashmir National Highway near Kunfer Chanderkote in Ramban district and rolled down into a deep gorge resulting on spot death of the driver of vehicle here today. "The deceased has been identified namely as Vipan kumar (37) of Nagrota Jammu," police said. Police sources said that this accident took place at around 1:30 pm on Friday when a tanker (JK02R-6179) of Indiane Oil loaded with diesel on way from Jammu to Srinagar skidded off the road and rolled down in a 600 feet deep gorge. The wreckage of truck flowed in river Chenab and the body of the driver was found stuck to cliff in water. Locals and employees of Baglihar project informed police and a police team was rushed to the spot to fish out the body. After recovering body police shifted the body to DH Ramban for autopsy. After the postmortem and other legal formalities police handed over the body to his family members for last rites. Meanwhile Police have registered a case in this connection in police Station Chanderkote. |
