| Villagers mourns the jawan's martyrdom in Manipur attack | | |
Samba ,June 5: A pall of gloom descended in Swankha Morh of district Samba when the news of martyrdom of jawan hailing from the area in Manipur reached here. Of the 20 six jawans martyred in Manipur terror attack are from Jammu region . As the news about the martyrdom of one Ram Singh ,who was serving in the Army reached the village the locals gathered outside his house to mourns the death and to express solidarity with the bereaved family.
Ram Singh is survived by his parents, wife and two children. Ram Singh joined the army in 2005 and presently was posted in Manipur. A family friend told that the deceased's father, Babu Ram, received a phone call from Manipur late last night from associates of Ram Singh in regard to the martyrdom in an ambush laid down by militants in the Paralong area at Chandel district in Manipur."Ram Singh was one of 20 Army personnel who attained martyrdom on Thursday while combating the armed ultras when the militants ambushed Army convoy near Paralong and Charong villages in Manipur. The body of the jawan will reach Jammu tomorrow and the martyr will be cremated with full honours at his native village at Nandpur. |
