Dr Sameer Matoo is new Director Health Services Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 5: Dr Sameer Ji Matoo today assumed charge as Director Health Services Kashmir. Dr Sameer was posted as DHS Kashmir vide government order no: 200-HME of 2015 dated: 04-06-2015. Dr. Sameer replaces Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman who was put under suspension by the government and attached with the General Administration Department following allegations that he is involved in the drug kit scam in the valley. Dr. Sameer belongs to a family of wisdom and knowledge. His father served as Sessions Judge while as his mother served as a Professor in the valley. His distinguished services of profession, knowledge and attitudinal perceptional tendencies are expected to lead the department to its new heights. "Dr. Sameer is fulfilling the criteria for the said post and as such was considered by the government till further orders. His professionalism has given vision to so many till now and hopes are among the people that visionary shall lead the department that at every level sidelines caste, colour, creed or any belief being the profession of humanity," a group of insiders told Early Times. Every walk of life has appreciated the placement in order to sustain the system of managing emergencies and curative procedures. The move is a significant one since it has removed the chaos and confusion that was prevailing within the sections of society at large and patient care in particular. Before being appointed as Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Sameer was discharging his duties as Senior Consultant (Ophthalmology), Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) has welcomed appointment of Dr Sameer as new Director Health Services Kashmir (DHSK). A delegation of DAK led by its president Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan today met newly appointed Director Health at his office and greeted him, a spokesman of the DAK said. "Dr Sameer has done his MBBS from Government Medical College Srinagar and after completing his MS Opthalmology was working as a senior consultant in the department of health. Dr Sameer is a kind and compassionate doctor with excellent organizational skills and leadership qualities," the spokesman said. The spokesman referred to Dr. Sameer as a visionary person with innovative approach and said that he is the right person to be in-charge of a crucial department at a critical juncture. He said the DAK anticipates that new DHSK will bring change in health care scenario of valley which is in complete shambles. "Dr Sameer has herculean task to restore health institutions which have been eroded because of which patients have lost faith in these sacred institutions. We believe that new Director will rebuild trust and strengthen the bond between doctors and patients which is the most important component of patient care," the spokesman said. The spokesman said that DAK hopes that the new director will speedily implement drug policy and transfer policy which will improve the peripheral health sector and patients will receive quality care at door step. |
