Harmful Maggi noodles:103 samples lifted for testing | Business Operators directed to adopt food recall procedures | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 5, Controller, Drugs and Food Control Organization Friday said that the field functionaries of the organization have lifted 103 samples of Maggi Noodles from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir and the samples have been sent for analytical purposes. Controller Drugs and Food Control Organization, Nazir Ahmed told that near about 3200 boxes of the food product have been seized. "We lifted 41 samples of Maggi noodles on Thursday while on Friday 62 samples of Maggi and other kinds of noodles were lifted from different districts of the state and were sent to analytical laboratories for testing purposes," he said. Controller, Drugs and Food Control Orgainzation added that on Friday round about 92 boxes and 30867 packets of Maggi and other kinds of noodles were seized by the functionaries of the organization. "The Food Business Operators found selling adulterated Maggi will be strictly dealt with as per the provisions of Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006. The Food Business Operators dealing with Maggi have been directed to adopt food recall procedures as envisaged in the FSSA 2006," he said and advised general public not to panic and avoid the use of Maggi noodles till the analytical reports of the samples lifted are not received. He said that the process of lifting samples of Maggi and other kinds of noodles will continue till the date the safe and wholesome products of Maggi noodles is available in the market. |
