| World Environment Day celebrated at NIOS Regional Centre | | |

Jammu, June 5: The Staff of National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) Regional Centre, Chandigarh today celebrated World Environment Day here today.
The theme of the celebration was NIOS Green-2015 and a tree plantation was carried out by the Regional Director and staff of the Regional Centre. The host organization has also invited Senior Citizens and other dignitaries from nearby institutions to participate in the activity.
Dr Giri, Regional Director in his address to the participants emphasized upon the need for encouraging tree plantation drives and stressed that to curtail global warming, climate change and pollution- the trees are the only savior. "If we do not wake up to this today, it may be too late for the future generation to survive on the Earth, he added. Arvind J Noel, General Secretary of YMCA, Chandigarh in his address emphasized upon the urgent need to do more plantation to save environment. Hardeep Singh, Assistant Director; GS Dhillon, SEO; Dr Pawan Kumar Jain, Section Officer (SO) also spoke on the occasion The programme concluded with a pledge to plant more and more trees. |
